Description

9″ x 12″ watercolor/gouache on heavy paper signed Koekkoek ’39.  This is attributed to Gerard Koekkoek because of the date on the painting.  There are many Dutch artists by this name but this is the one in the right period. Buyer pays for mailing.

Gerard Koekkoek initially was taught by his father Jan H.B. Then he was apprenticed to the impressionist landscape painter H.W. Jansen and the etcher Pieter Dupont. He lived and worked in Hilversum, Amsterdam, The Hague and Vlissingen , and made study trips to Germany and France . Gerard Koekkoek did painting and drawing , but was primarily a graphic artist doing etchings, lithographs and woodcuts. He also worked as a paintings conservator.
